Ode to the U-Bahn

Ode to the U-Bahn was created during Eef Schoolmeesters work week called 168H. It’s a work week where artists are challenged to work within this time frame on something you’ve always wanted to do but that might just not fit into your “normal” artistry.

I used this work week to do an Ode to a place I’ve had a fascination with all my life but which had not yet won a place in my studio the U-Bahn (Metro) . Despite the fact that I subconsciously already had a lot of footage of this and my phone is full of simple snapshots I had never come to the point of going into this more seriously.

I used the 168 hours to respond to this place in various visual ways. Below you can see the various tryouts I tried Cyanotype, Photography, Video, Spatial work, and Graphic. The work period ended with a reference work in which I describe my findings of this period.
